i was taking out my 305 and tranny in my 79 camaro and i think i did something stupid. when i disconnected my shift linkage on the side of the tranny (i think its a turbo 350) i turned the gear shift on the side to change the gears. i dont know what made me do this lol. i tured it back and forth threw the gears and now it wont turn at all. it seems like its stuck in a gear or it turned passed a gear and is stuck. im not good with tranny's so i have no idea what happend. i tried to turn the tranny to get it back in gear but nothing.... any help would be great thanks.

 

I am not too sure what you are trying to explain, but most likely you put the shift linkage back improperly and it is trying to engage more than one gear at the time. Get a repair manual for your car and follow the procedure for adjusting the shift linkage properly.

 

Sounds like you jambed the parking pawl... tap on the lever with a hammer...(TAP!) and see if you can get it unstuck... put the drive shaft in the output and wiggle it back and forth and try to unseat the parking pawl... With a TH350 it will not go into gear unless it has a motor turning it so you have not jambed it into a gear, it needs Hyd pressure to apply a gear. You should be fine.
