I'm seeing the 70 as being faster than the 69 according to the stats you posted... or am I missing something?

That said if you spent the money doing all the mods done in this "budget" 305 build for more power I think you'd be money ahead to just toss in a garden variety 350 crate replacement engine.
A new std 350 can be had for less money than a performance top end kit, good street friendly bottom end torque,a new motor with a warranty and easy to get more power out of later if you want it.
Just my 2 cts.

"New" 350,less than $1600.... http://www.summitracing.com/parts/NAL-10067353/
Thats my point... why spend $1600 (plus shipping) for a stock 195hp 350, when you already have a stock 145hp 305?

Your spending $1600 for 50hp and so you can brag to total strangers that you have a 350. Personally I dont care what nameless faces on the street think about what engine my Camaro has in it... but thats me. Now take that $1600+ and do the budget build, and you'll gain not 50hp... but 150hp. IMHO... money well spent.

But in my case... I'm gonna pocket that $1600+ and leave my 305 stock.

I Agree, 305 camaros are respectable i love mine wouldnt change it for the world. i would just find a used 350 engine outta a camaro in someones back yard that runs for like 400$ and just build from that.

Nope, you're not missing anything; the 1970 is faster. Never said it wasn't, but with 48 more cubic inches, and "supposedly" 70 more HP, it's not a lot faster. From our little impromptu drag race back in 1970 I found the 1969 to be a lot closer in performance than the specs indicate.
That was my point when I mentioned the more than a second faster time for the 1970 over the 1969 for the 60mph time. I didn't see enough space between us to indicate that much lead.

Ha, you edited it. Originally you stated that the 69 was faster but had the stats below saying that the 70 was faster. You're tryin' to trick me!

You're kinda late Kyphur. I posted that yesterday, and edited it seconds after I realised I had made a mistake in the data. But I never did say the '69 was faster. What I said was that when we drag raced, the 1970 only won by about a half fender length. If you check post #17 you'll see it's still there, and never been edited.
