Default what to do with exhaust

I bought the hooker headers and the flowmaster thunder series exhaust kit. should I dump them before the rear diff? or should I run the whole piping to the rear of the car. I haven't decided yet. Might see how it sounds when I install them.

i have a 69 as well, if i were you i would run them out the back because that looks good on a chevy and with your exhaust they should sound wicked too. if you run them down the side that more of a contemporary look and definetly not original for a camaro. my advice is to keep the car as much stock looking as possible.

I have a 69 as well with 396. I am running hooker headers and Dynamax exhaust. I ran them out the back and I think that looks the best. Sounds good too.

I would run them out back also. if you dump them in front of the rearend there is a chance of ex fumes intering the car
I have mine turn down just after the rear tire. the tip is kind of tucked up just above the bottom of the body so you cant see them
here is a pic that shows it the best, or not shows it as they are hidden but there are 3" pipes there

if you like I might be able to get a pic of them from underneath

I have a 396 with Hookers. I have 3 1/2" collectors that go down to a 3" pipe, to Flowmasters and my exhaust turns down right after the rearend. man, what a sound!

granted my mill is built up pretty good also but I ALWAYS get compliments when I go to a show

I dumped them at first. Sounded great, but damn the fumes from the exhaust. The next day I ran the exhaust out the back. It still sounds great and no more fumes. Now I'm changing out all the bushings when I get back from Iraq.

Install as large as a pipe as You can without dimpling the tubing. You need all mandrell bends. It makes it far less restrictive. Dump it out the back.

Dumped them out the back just like when I got the car. Sounded awesome with dumped before the diff, but it sounds just as good with the exhaust all the way back.
