What did you do to your camaro today
Now to what I actually did to the car today...more fixing, I'm on one of those streaks where after the car was put together and finished new things are breaking, i'm learning it never ends
Whoever had the car before me brilliantly (Sarcasm on the brilliantly) put Weld AlumaStar Rims on the car and they are meant for one thing.....going straight, well my driver's front tire kept going flat really fast today and I couldn't find anything in the tire, or valve stem or around the bead of the rim....so I start checking the rim and there was a slight crack in it where the solid part of the inside of the rim meets the lip that juts out to where the bead is and it was shooting out air....wonderful, guess I'm going to the local shop down the street that repairs aluminum rims and hoping that the rim will hold up for another couple months until I store the car for the winter and can save up to get the proper set of Street Rims that belong on the car....
The only bright side is I've had aluminum rims repaired in the past by this place and they have held up really really well, almost as if they were stronger than before....I just am so nervous with these rims on there and want to get a street set on the car before I suffer a major blowout and do damage

Depends on what is making it stiff. If it's the return spring, then a lighter spring will cure the problem. If it's a frayed or sticky cable, then the only cure is a new one. Try removing the return spring and see how it feels. If it's much lighter, then a longer spring will cure it.

Well today I tore down my heads to do the valves on them, took camaro69's advice and used a socket and hammer to get the springs off. The little rubber grommets were done. Anyone know a good way to clean the carbon of the chambers?
Hogwash. Might be safer, but I doubt it. What it will do by leaving two springs is it will wear out the shaft on your butterflies and you'll ruin your carb in short time. Once the base plate on the carb has the hole elongated it takes a machinist to bush the hole, and it's easier and cheaper to toss the carb. I'd sure get rid of the extra spring, Chevy didn't use them and they didn't have a problem.
