Got home early today, so I finished up the rear suspension on the Austin project. Got the top shock mounts done and welded in:

Also got my panhard bar narrowed and brackets fabbed up. Welded it all up and adjusted the side to side center so I have equal body clearance. Works super nice! Also used up one of the axle perches to make the mount for the axle end of the panhard bar. I love using up old parts and saving money and time!

The finished suspension sits a couple inches lower than previous leaf spring setup, and I really like the stance much better! It's exactly how I wanted it to sit now! Sorry about the blurry pic. (Must be getting tired!)

Next step is to figure out the steering box and linkage, then close up the firewall and mount a master cylinder on it! Getting closer! Hope I can drive it around by Christmas, even if it's not really street legal by that time!

Got another set of rings for it after finding I lost one of the top rings. Jegs should have them here before the weekend so maybe I can start putting my new pistons in that freshly bored 350 block, .030 over

I gotta go check that out for sure! I love the ****** coupes! That's really what I think of when I think about gassers. The old Stone Woods and Cook ****** was the epitomy of what a gasser was.
I started mocking up the firewall out of cardboard today. Also got my Hilborn scoop delivered today, so I've got everything to put my intake together now!

Well for now it's just gonna be a bit ratty and not get paint. After I get it running well and get a summer of drag racing and cruises I'll strip it down and attempt my first paint job. Always wanted to paint a car, but never had the nerve to try. I'm not worried about a street/strip car being perfect, so I'll give it a try and see how it comes out.
Wife wants it a dark metallic blue, but I'm pushing for black myself!

yeah painting it yourself would be sweet! i wanna try it with my camaro but i don't wanna screw it up or make it worse lol
black would be sweet but not some flashy candy or pearl paint like some of the gassers were?

I think that's what my wife has in mind. A metallic saphire candy blue. I need to not completely tune her out since this is the first car project in 35 years that she actually is showing interest in! Gotta try and encourage her until I can slowly change her thinking!
