VIN NUMBER PROBLEMS

I'm thinking about buying this 69 camaro that needs to be restored. It is together and all the parts are there. It does not have a matching numbers engine. Will need quarters etc. The V.I.N. on the title matches the V.I.N. under the windshield. This number is 123379N60**** The tim tag is missing from the firewall. The owner told me he found a different V.I.N.number stamped into the cowl area (under the louvered wiper panel) . These were not on a rivited tag. They were stamped into the metal. I have several questions for you guys. Is this a 69 camaro vin? Where else on this car would the VIN be stamped? Would you consider this a serious problem? Should I forget about buying this car? The owner seems very honest and and he didnt have to tell me about this. This is a drum brake car (nothing special) and is priced accordingly. I want to build it into an SS clone. Any and all thoughts welcome. THanks!

Pretty sure those are the only places to find the VIN. If it's not numbers matching and you're not paying for a numbers matching car I wouldn't worry about it too much. On top of that if you are going to build a clone car anyways then it really won't matter. According to your VIN, I think that, that was a six cylinder car, so of coarse make sure you beef up everything else along with the engine (tranny, brakes, rear end, and suspension).
I hope this helps, and good luck with the build, my next project car is going to be a 69, I think they are awesome.

On a 69 the vin was on the drivers side at the base of the windshield. Only spot.Seems like a legit vin # the sixth digit 9 tells you it was a 1969. Know your prices before you buy, 69's are hot now and scammers &ripoff artists are everywhere!!!! Good luck OH, it was a 6 cylinder car , the third digit 3 in the vin tells you that.
