Vibrations at 50MPH +

there you go, i just got my 78 and it still has the 31yr old suspension and wheels and joints and everything, aka, it gets very shakey at high speeds lol, im sure my problem is much more than just tires, not to mention the entire interior rattles lol, glad you fixed the problem though

Yeah, now my passenger side ball joint is "groaning" at me on slow turns, got down there and greased it up, kept it quite for a while but I have to bite the bullet and just get new joints. I hate working on suspension, so damn messy....

You and me both! I have yet to rebuild my suspension, and I've got everything sitting in the garage to do so. Just don't enjoy it nearly as much as engine work, or even body work.

i had /have this problem right now. pulled the engine for other project but my U joint caps were so dry and worn i suspect thats the noise and reason for vibration? just got new tires too but im going to get them rechecked why cars in the air. a dry U join cap will cause this?

Could be joints, but more likely it's more than just joints. Check the tie rod ends, and control arm bushings, plus wheel bearings.
While it's in the air with no weight, grab the tire at top and bottom and see if you can get movement in the joints. If it moves at all you may need new ball joints. Be sure to have someone watch behind to see if it's moving in the joints or the wheel bearings. Might need both.
