Upgrading Dash Gauges
Hello all!
i currently have a 1971 Camaro. She has seen better days, but she’s mine. I am getting a plan together that way I can find out the cost of everything to get it completed. One thing that I can’t find information on is gauges.
I want to keep the car stock looking, while upgrading the engine, suspension, etc. My current gauge set up has the 150 speedo and the 7k redline tach. Is it possible to buy a 150 speedo and 8k tach and drop it in the car? I would rather not buy aftermarket gauges, as I do like the look of the stock ones. Would there have to be additional wiring to drop that in, or is it a plug and play? I haven’t taken the dash out, so I don’t know what kinds of wires there are back there.
If I were to drop the 8k tach in there, would the needle be off since the car currently has the 7k tach on it?
Any info from you guys would be fantastic!
