Transmission help

Alright, I had to wait and sell my other clutch parts/flywheel before I could get the correct ones. Everything fits well, but now I have a new problem. It seems that my clutch adjustment rod is just not long enough. When I extent it all the way out, there is just a small amount of resistance when I push the clutch, at the VERY bottom. Is there an aftermarket that would work, or anybody hear about this happening?

I think you got the wrong throwout bearing! There are two lengths for different pressure plates, a long and a short. If you have the low pressure plate and use the short bearing, you'll not have enough adjustment. Sounds like this may be your situation.
You either need the long bearing, or the taller pressure plate.
This is the long:

Thanks a lot man. Figures I got ANOTHER wrong piece. So now I have a 153 tooth flywheel, a 26 spline clutch disk, a pressure plate that goes on a 153t flywheel, and a short throw out bearing, that I cannot return. Lessons learned.

I also learned the hard way many years ago, using a long throwout bearing where it should have been a short. Clutch didn't grab 100% and got worse from there. But, the parts store sold me the wrong one and did exchange it. Do you know which style of pressure plate and which length bearing you have?

I'm not sure which ones I have until I back out the transmission Saturday, and the websites I got the PP and TOB don't have the dimensions. I wouldn't think from the pictures of the NAPA TOB is much longer. Maybe a half an inch difference. Guess that half an inch means a lot.

You should certainly know once it's apart. Although, can't you see enough if you peek into the shift fork hole on the bellhousing? When you compare, there is a noticeable difference between the two throwout bearings. This will help to show what you're looking for with respect to the bearing and pressure plate: Throwout Bearing and Pressure Plate

Oh wow, yeah there is a bigger difference I know it is the smaller one, just from memory. Thanks for that link.

Ok, so then if you have the pressure plate with low profile fingers, the short throwout bearing you have is the problem.
