Trans swap out ?
Ok my turbo 350 is about to go out, so i was wondering about putting in a 704. I will rebuild and keep the stocker but would like some better mileage with the current gas prices. Would this require major mods or be a easy exchange. Since my car is all original i don't want to change anything to devalue it.
Thanks Adam
PS Any exhaust preferences? I'm thinking flow-masters they quoted me 350-400 from the headers back with tips

RE: Trans swap out ?
Thanks,
Last thing i want to do is ruin my car from what it is. I am wondering next how MUCH i can build the motor yet still be considered original. this is all new to me. The stroker seems like it would be a nice build. My goal is to get this car fast enough to catch my youth which is rapidly going out of sight.

RE: Trans swap out ?
So you are not original already...just like alot of us here. The 700 R4 is a good tranny, you will hear alot of debate here about that, but in the end it is your decision....also, if you can get a "true" flowmaster set-up for that price from the headers back, I say go for it. Sounds a bit on the low side, unless its a single muffler, you didnt say what year you have??

RE: Trans swap out ?
It would be a dual set, Its a small local shop that does alot of custom work. I would like to drive this alot and with the price of gas a few extra MPG wouldnt hurt my feelings. I am also looking to rebuild the motor this winter and a stroker kit sounds like a good plan, On the bright side since its NOT all original anymore i can make it what I want.
