i want to put 17" rimsin the rear.what is the biggest and widest size tire that i can fit in the rear of my 1970 camaro.

 

Pretty big,I've seen guys with 275/60/15's on the back and those are 28"OD and about 10" wide. with 17 inch rims you should have no problem puttin on 275/40/17 with an OD of about 25.7 .......................but check around first.

 

what if i keep the 16 inch rims how big of a tire could i put

 

The largest tire I've seen in 16 is a bf goodrich g force ta drag r at 255/50/16. The rest are 245/50 's. Do you know how tire sizing works?

 

Make sure to do your homework. Check the room in the wheel well for backspacing. The limiting factor is the width of the wheel house. ten inch is about the max and still retain suspension travel for a good ride. Of course if you wish you can install mini-tubs, plenty of room then.

 

I would say nothing more then 4" of backspace. And if you don,t know what any of this is then let us know so we can tell you.

 

Iknow how tire size works but i am not sure what i want to do. i am just trying to get some ideas.
