Tire size
Will a 225R60/15 tire fit in a stock rear wheelwell without rubbing on a 69 Camaro with stock SS style wheels with 4.5" backspacing 8" wide and what size tire will fit the front without rubbing on a 15x7 wheel with 4.25 backspacing?
Thanks
David

Hi David,
You'll have lots and lots of room with that 225/60/15 on the rear.
I'm running a 255/60/15 on an 8" rim on the back and I have a comfortable amount or room to spare, even with the 2 inch drop I have in the springs. The 255's are a little taller than the 225's your looking at, but with a matching 215/65/15 on a 7" rim that I have on the front, I'm really appreciating not only the stance, but the clearance I've gained with the headers. Yeah, yippie I A ! No more bottoming out on the RR tracks from when I had the 195's up front.

David,
way late on the response. Have a stock height 68. I'm running 255/60-15 Mickey Thompson's on 8.5 inch rims with 4 3/4 backspacing on the rear and there is tons of room. I do have Competition Engineering drag links and Hotchkis rear antisways plus subframe connectors to keep things in their place..

With that rim in the back you should be able to go as large as 255-60-15 with no problems. You may be able to get away with 275-60-15 depending on your height and the stiffness of your rear leaf springs. I believe a 215-65-15 would be perfect with your front wheel. I tried a 225-60-15 in the past, but I had rub issues on tight lock turns.
