Default Thoughts on this Project. 79 RS

Fellow Enthusiasts:

I'm in the Military, and searching for a project for my 16 y/o and I to bond, we need a running vehicle, at least. Came across this one that is about a 30 minute drive. It is a 79, the owner says it has 119K miles and a a 305. Owner says that is does not run because it needs minor parts.. We have access to the hobby shop on base and have several friends that would love to help.

Please send me your thoughts. Seller wants 2600.00

Thanks in advance.

I'm not sure what the market is around you, but I bought my 79 Z28 for a $1000 running and driving. Around here I've have seen nicer one's then that go for less I'd do some more checking around and compare a few before final thoughts.

Do you know what these minor parts needed to make it run are? if it's something like a battery that would be simple enough but if it's something like it's missing the carb or intake then that could lead to water or other things have gotten in the engine and locked it up.

Thanks!

I know there can be anything wrong with it that it won't start. I've asked the owner to send me pics of the interior, engine, and the parts that are needed.. .Still waiting..

The market for Camaro's here, in the Gulf Coast is unpredictable. A lot of owners hold off to sell in the spring, right before the cruizin starts.. We'll see.. I'll await more info from the owner. There are more options, just that it's am RS and relatively close.

R..

I wouldn't pay anywhere near that amount for a non-running Camaro. I look at it as not having an engine or trans, since there's no way to tell if either is any good when it doesn't run. If the parts to get it running are minor, then the seller would have put them on and sell it as a runner. Something smells fishy when I hear that kind of statement, as it doesn't add up.
Here's one in Corpus Cristi for $1500 that runs, but needs work.

Another in Morales a Z28 that is $1200, or offer

Another z28 for $1700.

1979 runner, $1800:

And the creme of the crop! A 1980 for $2450 that very nice!

Its most likely not a picture of the actual car because it also says modern rims and it has a 305 and the picture is of a z28
