OK so im getting the camaro ready for summer now and want some oppinions. i have an 80 in black its a z28 clone. the front clip is all messed up ... my parts car is a 78. any oppinions on keepig the side vents from the 80 and the hood from the 78 and making it ram air? and then i want to put the z28 stripes on it so i would do the 80 stripes down the side of the car and the 78 hood stripes. opinions would be great

 

I think the air induction decals may fit the shape of the 78 scoop. Not sure but they look like they have the same shape. No way would I buy two $200+ kits. Plus the colors and stripe styles changed in 78,79, and 80. I like the 79's personally. 78's were totally different than any other. 79's and 80/81's are close but 79 has two colors on the stripe and 80/81 have three. So really, 79 is where your at too. The hood scoop is the same as 78 and it has stripes down the side like you want. Crappy thing is that they don't repop the grill emblem for 78 or 79. So then you get a weird look with an 80/81 and its three colors.

Honestly, I'm probably one of the only people that would look at a car and break it down like that. Most people won't notice. Good luck, check out the 79 stripes. They are also the only year that had the Z28 sticker on the nose.

 

I personally always liked the 80-81 Z28 decals over the 78-79. I'd say just go with a complete 80 kit to match the year and call it a day, because if I'm not mistaken the 78 hood stripes didnt have the same colors as the 80-81 side stripes.

 

78 stripes are there own deal. The hood stripe is the same as 79, thats it. The 78's just follow the rocker and over the wheel well. Then they have a Z28 decal on the fender with the word Camaro above it and around the tear drop scoop. I have a 78 Z.


79 has the big Z28 on the header panel. The stripe down the side is two colors terminating in Z28.


Then the 80-81 is the same. They have three colors on the side going through the Z28 and the sticker is actually on top of the air induction hood scoop. Instead of around the perimeter like the earlier models.



The hood scoop is the spoiler here. No pun intended.

 

Ok so 79 badging kit is the best bet. i just like the three color on the 80/81's but i dont think id spend an extra 200 on it. i was going to try to call a company and see if they would split one up. i doubt anyone would do that. the 80 an 81's also have gray which is what i really want to use but that kit wont fit well on the 79 hood that i have.
