ps i couldnt get the pic to work so follow the link to see it!!!
can't get to the picture, you can add them using the "Manage Attachments" button I think...

My personal opinion on HID is that it looks good on newer cars.. I wouldn't put them in mine when I get it.

Well I bought the Camaro today.. had overheating issue when I was on my way back. The guy I bought it from told me that it does overheat and he has an extra fan etc. there as well... I didn't feel comfortable driving for another hour so I left it at a friend's house. I just wanted to find out if this is normal and if not then what I need to do to fix that...

Other then that the car rides nice, its really loud! just a small rust patch as he said by the tire but everything else is in good shape. Will post pictures soon

should not overheat without fans if u are crusing. pluged radiator will do it. stuck thermostat will do it. is it leaking? so a new exhaust is in order i take it.

A 1980 should have a mechanical fan on the engine. Is the "extra fan" an electric? If so, I'd forget that, as the engine fan should do the job easily.
Might be several things, but first try the easy stuff, like a thermostat. Then backflush the radiator, or get a new one. If all that doesn't do it, then check the water pump.
You should be able to start the engine up cold and open the radiator cap. Watch the coolant level and you should see it begin to move as the engine warms up, if the thermostat is opening, and the water pump impeller is working.

ahh thanks bb. was not sure and if it is then the clutch in the fan could be bad. had that happen on my truck once and it ran hot and overheated if i stoped for to long. had to turn the heater on to keep it cool in trafic. bummer when it was warm out. lol

Check the ignition timing too. If timing is way off, it can make the engine run hotter than normal.

Thanks! will check thermostat and do a flush. In the meantime, I am going to try to bring her home today somehow. Any particular coolant I can use to keep the car cooler or just water will do?
