Thinking of becoming new owner - HELP....
Hello to all. I am currently an owner of a 98' C5 vette. I fell in love with a 1967 convertable camaro. It's red and a "SS". Paint is beautiful. There is a new GM crate engine. A 350, 330hp high output. A new muncie 4 speed. And an air cleaner to oil pan mechanical change out. The guy is going to replace the interior, which is in great shape already and the top is beautiful. NO rust anywhere, new tires and wheels. It's at a dealer so I'm taking in account his profit and he's asking 35K. But for the past two days I've been checking all over the internet and the prices are all over the board. But, I'm telling you this thing is in outstanding condition and after the interior change out, it is like right off the assembly line. I would have 12 month/12k mile coverage on the engine and tranny. Is 35k out of line or a Good deal? Any help would be appreciated.
Hi there Vassili. Sounds like a beautiful car! I've just recently become a new owner and went through a similar experience. I was looking at a 68 convertible RS private sale. It was in very nice shap with a matching numbers 327 engine. He wanted 29k which was negotiable. I fell in love with a SS/RS 396 coupe at a dealer and ended up buying that one for 25K. I love it and have been having a great time. I would say it seems high for a non matching number car but if you plan to keep it, the car will appreciate and your not going to loose money. Convertibles are very desirable and will hold their value. If you are happy with it thats what counts! Good luck and let us know what you decide. Robyn
I agree, it seems steep since its not numbers matching. Keep looking around. If you have your heart set on it, go for it. Also, you could try to bring in an appraiser and see what they say to the dealer.
