Default Swap a 6 for an 8

Got a line on a 71 with a 6 and want to know if it is possible to put an 8 in it with minimal pain in the assedness.

Thanks, any help would be appreciated!

Whap you are proposing is an easy swap. It can be done without any major mods. Most expensive purchase would be the engine. Go for it!

Im in the process of doing that right now with my 68 GTO conv. Its possible, but depends on how much you need to do..clutch? auto trans? True, the most expensive part is the engine. Crate or not? It can involve alot.

It does involve a lot of small details but the parts are readily available over the counter or at local swap meets. GM was nice enough to standardize the engine mount bracket locations, no heater box mods and I am not sure but I think the trans cross member is the identical in same location. If going from auto to clutch, the holes should be in the frame for z-bar bracket. Differential would be same as V8, probably not a posi though. Radiator for a 6 cyl I think was 2 core unless it had factory A/C, will need to upgrade.
