steel 2inch cowl hood fitting?
I've just installed a new steel 2inch cowl hood ( reproduction part ), seems to fit very nice. Until i tryed my wipers and realized that they hit the cowl and will not operate.
I have the hide away tyoe of wipers, the only think i can think of is to modify the hood to give them enough clearance.
Has anyone else come accross this issue, or can think of any other solutions?
many thanks from Luke

Here's a link to a PDF file that should explain it all. If your car didn't have hideaway wipers originally, then that may be the issue, or if you have the wrong type arms it may be the issue. Check this link out:

I beleive evrything is ok with the wipers, correct colour and extra linkage on the drivers side.
The only other thing i can think of is adjusting the bump stops, this may sort the wiper clearance, but i think the hood will then be above the fenders.
Is there any adjustment that can be made to the hood hinges?
Thanks from Luke

Nothing you can do to the hinges or bump stops that wont raise the hood and lead to it not matching the fender height. Yes, the hinges can be raised where they attach with two bolts.
What brand of hood is this? Have you contacted the supplier to ask if they've had other issues with this problem. Do you drive the car a lot in the rain? I don't even run wipers on mine, as the only time I'm in the rain is if I get caught in it. I RainX my windshield and it works good enough to keep it clear if I do get caught out in a shower.

Not sure of the make of the hood. I will have a another look at the weekend and see if i can sort it. If not i will be contacting the supplyier.
I dont take it out in the rain, but i think it would fail it's MOT if the the wipers dont operate.

So I guess you could raise the hood to get clearance, then after it's inspected drop it back down to match up properly. Or do they do random checks too?

Mine cleared fine, but I don't have the concealed type wipers. I don't run them any more just because I don't have clearance with my gauge mounting.
