i didn't think they made cold air intakes for 2nd gens or any carberated engine. do you think there worth getting for the money? and how much hp do you think they would give? 25hp?

Waste of time and money. Cold air intakes on a carbureted car wont even give enough HP increase to feel a difference. Might get 5 hp at most.
Since you've got a cowl hood now, your best bet is to get (or make) a seal that will seal your air cleaner to the cowl intake. That will be cheaper and do much more than the expensive system.
I built mine from two air cleaner for under $40. Bought the largest base I could get, then put a smaller element and top from 2nd air cleaner on top. Went to a foam rubber supplier and had him cut me a strip of dense foam that was 1" thick and long enough to fit the circumference of the base cleaner. Then I just used contact cement to glue the strip to the base, and back to itself in a circle.
I put a straight edge across thw fenders and measured the distance to the base to get the measurement for the width of the foam to have it cut. Now when the hood closes it seals against the inside and I get nothing but cold air in.

Base size depends on what size your hood opening is. You'll need a base that's equal to, or larger than your opening. Also need to be sure that the opening is centered over the carb, or an offset base will be required.
A custom base can easily be made from sheet aluminum and tin snips. Just cut a circle the size you need, then cut a hole the size of your existing air cleaner. Then situate your element on the top and your old top on that. Then the foam can be glued to the custom base.
