Question Spectra FI conversion fuel tank

Hi All, would love to get some feedback on these tanks. I'm considering buying one for my 72 but heard the early units had some premature fuel pmp failures and maybe some fuel slosh issues -- Any good news out there???

I don't know of anyone here with one. Try Ricks stainless.

Better off buying a Harwood fuel cell that uses an external electric fuel pump. They come with all the correct outlets to adapt to any situation, and GM sending units too. They can also be found occasionally on Craigslist for dirt cheap. I bought one for my car off CL for $50 complete with mounting straps and 90 ohm GM sending unit. I didn't neeed the return lines used on modern electric fuel pumps so I plugged that outlet. I used an external Pro Comp 115 gph pump that I got from KMJ Performance for a paltry $48 shipped to my door!

His FI will need a return line. I have looked into this a little because the situation I'm in. I don't want to cut the floor, still need a trunk, and the transverse muffler will melt the tank.

I don't know exactly what your looking for but aeromotive has a new in tank pump with regulator and a sump. They cost a grand though. If you got some skill here is a link for modifying a stock tank. http://www.nastyz28.com/forum/showthread.php?t=152084

My Harwood has the fittings for supply and return lines. I plugged the return.

Those are for duel feed. The return will go in the top. Thats how I picture it in my mind at least. My summit fuel cell has the extra fitting too.

There is a top fitting also for the return, just doesn't show in the picture.

That is for the vent. If you have a return line pumping in fuel the air needs a way to escape.

I thought the newer fuel tanks were non vented because they had a return line? Why would you need a vent if you're pumping fuel out and only the excess is returned?

Ok you have me there. But I have always used it for a vent. But that was on a drag car and I just copied what everyone else was doing at the track. I honestly don't know much about FI, I can even get my truck to run right. Good thing I don't drive it much.
