Default SparkPlug Gapping

Yesterday I took my 78 Camaro to a shop to have it tested for Emissions. The mechanic told me to re gap my new spark plugs to .48, I have them gaped at .45 right now. does anyone know what happen if I gap my plugs at .48? is this a big difference? is it worth doing?

Think of this. A paper clip is .030". A sheet of paper is around .005", I don't remember for sure. My opinion is .003" is negligible. And even harder to accomplish. Do you use one of those cheapy gappers that they sell at the counter? I don't like those. Never accurate. The chrome peeling off is worth .001", if it peels off both side there's .002" inaccuracy right there. Use some feeler gauges next time if you don't already. As for what your mechanic said, I wouldn't pull my plugs over it. I don't think it would change anything.
