Default Should I Buy This Parts-Car for SMOG stuff? (1979)

Hi Guys,

I'm having a hell of a time getting all the little parts to get my car to pass smog in California. Long story short, the car is from Florida, and all the smog stuff was thrown away.

I already bought all the main parts: Rebuilt smog (air) pump, charcoal canister, stock intake manifold and carburetor, stock exhaust manifold, stock air cleaner cover, and even the stickers. But as far as finding the hoses, mounting brackets, one-way valves, etc, I have been SOL.

Then I saw a parts car for sale: http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eB...tchlink:top:en

What do you guys think? Is it worth the $800-1000? Anybody know how to tell if it's a "California emissions" car or not?

Thanks in advance for your help/advice.

-Eric

where in cali are you? if you are near San Diego stop on by and check. If I have duplicates of stuff (which I do) I have 2 smogged cars I am making into one. You are free to come by and take it for free.

That car is smogged for Cali. Would you really pay that much for the smog stuff? If Vista is near you that is like 30 miles from me. Come by and take what you need.

Default Wow! Thanks!

You are too kind! I have been working on getting this stuff for months with very little luck. (eBay, junkyards, catalogs, you name it.)

You have to let me give you some $ though, after all, you'd be saving me several hundred bucks and the hassle of dealing with an entire car. Whatever you think is fair.

What would be a good day for you?

If the car is from Florida originally then make sure when you go for smog they smog it under federal laws. There are different rules for cars that were not built specifically for California.
