Default In Search of a 69 VIN

Hey everyone!! First time poster. Hope I'm in the right forum to ask this question. I am in search of my fathers 1969 Z28. I have the VIN, but I realize CarFax cannot look up cars pre-1981. And since I don't have a clue as to the location of this vehicle, I'm not even sure which state DMV office to go to. The only information I have is that my father bought the car new from Joe Holland Chevrolet in South Charleston, WV and then sold it while living in Wheelersburg, OH. I believe he sold it to a lady in the Portsmouth area but I could be wrong. How in the world can I even begin to search for this vehicle. It was brown with white racing stripes. I'm just curious to know where it is. Not necessarily about who owns the car. Just the location. Can anyone help me on this? Thanks.

You could hire someone to track it down. A police station would be able to track it down too. Unfortunately, since you no longer have rights to the vehicle, they are not allowed to disclose that information. There are title companies that can also help you locate it as well as "investigators" Good luck.
