Default Rust,, what can you tell me

I'm looking at an '81 Z28 and the guy sent me some pics. Says the only rust is a spot of the passenger side door jam. Seems like an odd place for a rust hole. Anyone know if this is a sign of something much worse going on inside the body?

I am not familiar with that being an indicator of anything worse. It appears to be outside in rust but I would expect to replace 6" around that spot. To do it right it will be a complicated fitment. You don't want to use much putty there because it is a impact point for the door.

Floor issues are a lot more common then door jam issues. I can remember sending late second gens to the scrape yard here in PA in the late 80's.

Is it a "T'top car ? but still its a Fisher body ,Of which are prone to rust ,Check the floors ,the trunk around the back window.Where is the car from ?do they use salt on the roads? Was it garaged ? And if you can`t check it out yourself I would have a knowledgeable friend do so. A car is a big investment next to a house.Better to be safe than sorry. Remember that old saying You pay me now or pay me later.Good luck to you.
