Rear End- What Fits?
New to Camaros, but love muscle cars. Picked up a 1974 Z28 with a worn posi, so its a 1-tire-fire right now. I wanna replace the rear with a new rear-end posi. Just looking for options on what can fit.
According to the guy i purchased it from, it currently runs the 12 bolt with 4.10 gears outta a 70 Nova.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Got some plans for it, but first things first, and ive got to replace the lower ball joint, tie-rods, and the rear end before i can begin the engine mods.

I recently rebuilt my 70's rear w/all new parts. Id recommend an Auburn posi unit. I did alot of research, and for the money, seems to be the best out there. Jegs and Summit both carry them. You'll need to count the splines by taking off the yoke from the rear diff to be sure you get the right one.The 12 bolt parts will cost you though. It would be a good idea to check the axles and bearings, as my donor rear had alot of rust inside the housing. Hope this helps
that does help, thank you very much.
rebuilding it could be a possibility, but i thought it might be a cheaper route to go to find a used end outta the auto-wreckers/pick-n-pull.
only problem is finding the right one. This is my latest project, so im pretty patient on finding one. It would be a lot easier if i had more options.

My quest for a great rear end took a while. Cost me about $1600 bucks, but I was very satisfied with the results. If you just want to do the posi thing, you should have no problem. I found a rear from a '75 for my '70 fit perfectly so anything in that range should fit. First thing I did was get it sandblasted and primed, thatcost me 90 bucks, the junkyard raped me for $150 for the rusted thing.$240 already, and Im just getting started. New moser axles, timkin master bearing kit, the posi unit, new richmond gears, brake lines, brake cylinders, drums, chrome diff cover, repainted w/epoxy enamel black paint. Biggest problem? The crush sleeve, and backlash setting. If I could do it over, Id buy the parts, and pay a shop to put it together. Alot of work, and time.

I didn't think anyone used them anymore
