Rear end

Anybody have an idea as to how much horsepower a stock rear end will take? I have a 79Z28 I am planning to build,and was wondering how strong the 4 speed and rear end (stock 3.73) are. Thanks for any info.

maybe like 450 hp tops, if its in optimum shape. The tranny in yours was no where near as strong as the one in my car, the m22, but its a rare tranny, i put mine in as a replacement actually
