The 1987 and up style center bolt valve covers doesn't mean "Vortec". The V8 Vortec is a truck engine, and the 5.7 came out in 96.

I'm guessing it's a small Holley with the fuel line going to the driver's side of the carb. Probably a single feed 600cfm.

Whatever carb it is, if you do buy the car, get rid of that plastic fuel filter. That's just a carbeque waiting to happen. Safest and best way is steel line from pump to carb.

I'm driving out to grab it tomorrow, so I'll know for sure. I'll also try to post pics as soon as I get it home and in my garage.

The carb was an older holly.

She has a dry rotted line off the tank. rear sits very low and Im not quite sure what they where trying to do with the heater.
The left rear finder seems to have a great deal of filler in it. After I get it in my garage, I'll sand a bit of the primer off to see just what I'm dealing with.
Any thoughts?

Doesn't look all too bad. Does look like it took a cross-country trip through the desert though!

Pretty decent looking car from what I can see. Not sure what's up with that thing on the firewall where the heater box was? I can't tell if it's some sort of material screwed over the heater core area to seal the firewall, or maybe some weird aftermarket electric heater inlet thing? No hoses to it, so I'm guessing it's got no wet core like factory. But I also see the core mounted closer to the fender in a odd location, and an inline shutoff to stop circulation in the warm months.

Maybe that thing on the firewall is a mini electric space heater? It looks like it has electrical prongs down low. Although the upper part of it looks like a fluted cover, like a fluorescent light fixture. I know, it's a Ronco combination foot warmer/work light!

That is just a piece of what ever they could find covering the hole in the firewall where the heater core used to be. The wires are the old air conditioning wires. The reason for the lack of heater core. The suitcase got in someones way, so they made sure that will never happen again. The motor is what he said it was I'd bet. It looks the same as the one in my 91 pickup. Except mine still has EFI. .

I think who ever had it may have a bunch of little surprises for you. I'd get you will find some creative engineering here and there. maybe a few WFT is this for moments. All in all its in real good shape. The butt is sagging because all of them do.

I got a set of headlight covers for you if your interested.
