Default Pump to carb fuel line

So I had a bad fuel line from my fuel pump to my carburetor, so I bought a replacement online. It matches the original, but I can't actually get the fuel line to fit right in the car, almost like the shape is wrong or something. Is there some trick to installing one? I've never had to do it before.

Is it off a little bit from point a to b, or is the fitting on the carb in a totally different place? You can rebend/reshape the line, go slowly and be careful not to kink it. You probably don't have a tubing bender, so you can use a round pipe (not too small) as a guide to push and bend against.
