Default Proper Name for Hood Cowl Flap Part

Can anyone please tell me what the proper term is for the part that goes under the carb that opens and closes the hood scoop flap on a 1981 Z28? My son bought a 1981 Z28 but the switch part that fits on the engine is missing and we need to find a replacement. ANy help will be appreciated. Thanks.

Actually the switch is on the gas pedal and there is a solenoid bolted to the hood. Its called air induction.

Ricardo is a good guy. I've met him personally and bought stuff off of him before. He drove half way from Wisconsin and met me and a couple other people from Chicagoland area to sell us some of his stuff. He is fair and seems really particular, don't be afraid to deal with him.

I thought that there was a piece uncer the carb on the intake thatthe solenoid attached to but I could be wrong. Is there anywhere online where there are some drawings of this set up?

It's actually my son's car that I am looking for the pieces for - not mine. He has an '81 Z28 convertible that had been whacked on the front corner and the previous owner was hung up on keeping the engine and wouldn't sell him the part under the carb base plate.... so now we are looking for the pieces to put it back together. He has almost everything gathered but he still needs the air induction attachments.

Yeah Damon is right, there is a silinoid under the hood scoop itself with two wires that run to a switch under the foot pedal. So once you floor it, it opens the flaps on the scoop (air induction). Then you will need a carb breather that seals to under the hood when you close it. Maybe the guy you baught it from kept a spacer or a holley addapter plate?

My car's air induction doesn't work as well...i know it is supposed to have a switch on the floor but i have no clue what it looks like to even look for one...so for the time being its got a little rubber stopper to keep the flaps open on the hood...but its winter so theres no working on the camaro till the snow melts

If there were a switch under there, maybe the wires are still there. And if the wires are still there, I'm sure any old push to activate switch would work. Radioshack? It would be a cheap experiment.
