Opinions: Just bought a 73 camaro Z28
I currently own a 70 camaro body that I was planning on building this summer, but had a call this morning with a guy with 73 camaro parts body for sale for $200. After looking at the car I bought it, it turned out to be a 73 Camaro Z28 A/C car. Both cars are V8 4spd cars, but my 70 camaro doesn't have a cowl tag or anything to determine the options it had. Should I just use the 73 for parts to build the 70 or steal all the VIN numbers and cowl tag to make 70 camaro into a 73 Z28? Also there are numbers under the Z28 on the cowl tag any clue what these are four? I also have a 350 motor out of a 70 camaro
wow didn't know that, guess I will be building the one or the other lol. Which car would be worth more? 70 camaro V8 4spd or 73 Z28 A/C V8 4spd?
The 73 Z28 with A/C would be worth more. But which one will cost you more to restore is something you need to consider as well.
I see a lot of rusty crusties above the tag on the 73, is that any indication of it's overall condition?

The car would need one quarter panel replaced and a floor pan. Also it had the sub frame removed. But I could use the parts off my 70 to complete this one. I am a welder so I do all the patch panel work myself.
The vin is in WAY more than just the tag in the windshield. When I got my 80 I drove from west Michigan to Indianapolis to get the car. The seller swore it was legit and had the title. Well, no title when I got there. The body on the car was flawless and he swore the title was in his moms safe, she was on vacation.
Anyhow, I left with the car and a bill of sale that had the vin and sellers info. When I got home I immediately call the State Police and had a trooper come out. The sub frame was off my car as well, he went and found the VIN stamped in the firewall First before ever looking and the normal one. I've heard some have them on the rocker too. So you'll never totally change it anyhow.
As for the trim tag numbers, do they match the last numbers of the vin? I think thats what they are but I know jack about that type of thing.
Oh yeah welcome, post more pics.

77, the 079745 number on the trim tag is a sequential number assigned to that car by Fisher Body. It doesn't match, or have anything to do with the VIN.
You didn't finish your story, did you finally get the title?

I just checked back in here to post what you just did, almost word for word.
Yes, they ran the numbers and it came back clean. The trooped signed a paper that I got from the secretary of state (out version of DMV). They in turn took 20 hard earn dollars and filed for my title. Because I had the bill of sale, everything was fine. Then I had to wait for a more through check to see if it was reported stolen anywhere else. It all took less than two weeks and I now have a title without ever seeing a Indiana title.
