northern cali junk yards
for any norcal camaro owners out there-
does anyone know any good junk yards that are likely to have a decent number of 2nd gens to take apart? i went to 4 different pick&pulls and there are almost NO camaros whatsoever; they barely even had any 3rd and 4th gens, which was kinda scary.
the only yard i know that would have 2nd gens for sure is gm sports salvage in san jose, but are there any others i should check out?

First off, many yard crush anything 10 years old. Second, the 2nd gen camaro shells sell. That means even the base body has value. Its not uncommon for someone restoring a 2nd gen to spend 2K on sheet metal.
As a general rule aftermarket body pannels are not massed produced in the after market untill junkyard can no longer meet demands.
So if you are looking for a cheap second gen to redo or play with and you are searching the yard you about 15 to 20 years too late. You can still find some of the later 78 car in project form (all torn apart) for about $1000 in my area. Most of the time these cars need a lot of sheet metal work.
My understanding is you can head over to the desert and find a lot of shells.
