Hi, I’m new to the Camaro world although I have always loved the 1st and 2nd gen Camaros. I recently bought my first 1976 rally sport Camaro, with a 4 speed manual tranny and it’s an awesome drive. Even with the low 165 hp it still feels like it takes off. However I’ve been persuaded into considering an LS swap to give the car some real power, I’m just not sure which direction to go, in terms of choosing the correct engine and what kind of upgrades to the rest of the drivetrain and suspension will be needed if I went up to 300-400 horsepower. I was hoping the forums could help me out in choosing the right engine as I’m still learning more and more about the car. Any help is appreciated, thanks.

Well there's a lot to an LS swap,it would be far easier to swap in a 350 crate motor like this with 330 hp.

You would still need an intake and carb upgrade like this.

This will all bolt right in your car with no mods whatsoever, don't get me wrong I love LS power but it's not just a simple bolt in swap.
Your stock drivetrain should be okay with this as long as you don't get stupid with it. lol

Oh by the way, welcome to CF and that's a nice looking car you have there.
