new guy with a 80 R/S project
I'm running Summit brand gauges in thier pods. Oil, water temp, amps, and vacuum. They are back lit, and controlled from the instrument lights. I put them out there when I drag raced the car so I could monitor everything as I was coming to the line and staging.
I'm just over 6' tall and they are low enough I see over them easily, but see them without looking down. I like them there for ease of viewing, and since not everyone has them in that location. On my old hood I had them mounted to the stock grille at the rear of the hood by bolting through it. The new cowl hood is smooth and no place to bolt, so I fabricated mounting plates and welded them to a arm that has two upright braces bolted to the cowl inder the hood.
I had them too high the first time I built the mounting, so I cut 1.5" off the uprights and lowered them to even with the hood. Here's what they looked like before lowering:

lol thanks man but to do a cool mod like that i would want something under my hood to back up the drag car look lol and maybe a nicer hood
I did do a small mod on the week end ordered some plug wire separators to run along the valve cover they are to be red but the wife says they are pink

Naw, you don't need any more engine to do the gauge pods. I just got a V6 with a fake big block plastic engine to cover it up!
Nice choice on the plug wire color!
