Default New 1980 Z28 ower

This ismy first post here and my first camaro Z28.I just recieved a 1980 Z28 all orginal car that I purchased on Ebay. I have had several guys look at the car and they all believe that is a matching numbers car, orignal paint (Hugger Orange), interior carpet needs replacing. The body has just a couple of small dings nothing major. The t-tops leak, the only rust we could find in the floor panswas under the car when we put it on the rack. The floor pan under the left rear seat had a couple of rusted spots that went all the way through once we put a screwdriver through it. The plates under the covers and over the rocker panels both sideswere rusted and a little bit of rust under the hood around the battery. There was another small spot in the trunk but did not appear to go all the way through. The engine sounds solid, does have front main oil leak and power steering leak. Needs a tune up. My question is the guy advertised the car as being completely rust free and it is not that way. I am in discussion with him about the price. I was wondering what a car in this condition is worth.

Thanks

If it was advertised as "completely rust free" then you should contact seller to work things out. I guess it pays to do your own inspection before you buy. Or at least pay some mechanic to check the car out.

From your description, it doesn't really sound all that bad. So it depends on what you paid and how it looks, which we can't see without a pic. One persons idea of "rust free" is anothers idea of rust bucket. He could have been referring to the outer body itself, which sounds fairly clean.

I feel bad for you ,as I notice everyone on Ebay practically claims rust free.
And when I request pictures of the undercarriage and trunk ,all of the sudden they have no access to a dig cam?

If this help's ,I can buy my Sisters 79 Z28 for 5G . It has the factory 4 speed ,p/w,p/dl,Fisher T roof's ,and has been garage kept almost it's entire life [no rust!].
Need's paint as the clear coat is peeling .

Wow your car is exactly how I want to refinish my sisters 79. I have to round up the newer air induction hood piece on top ,and side vents for the fenders.

sorry for changing the subject on your thread
