5000 rpm at 70 mph with a 3.73:1 would equate to 17.5 inch tall tire.

 

yes first gear is like 20mph time to shift

 

jack up the car and count the revolutions, I bet you have way to much gear for a 454.

 

How long has this been a problem? Did you change anything and suddenly this began?

 

no its been like this since i bought it but the guy i bought it from was a mechanical genious i mean if u told him what kind of motor you had and what kind of hp u wanted he could give u part numbers off the top of his head but he died i bought this car from his father so he dont really know what all was he did to it all i really know is what was wrote about it and he put about 125,000 in this car most of the undercarriage is crome if it is not painted so its hard to figure out ..I also need alittle help to figure out this slide a link traction system i dont know alot about that either.

 

ok guys i think its the gears i think its to low so what gear should i go with for crusing and a little racing

 

I don't know what tach you have, but it seems to double the reading. This can happen with some aftermarket tachs, that are set for either 4 or 6 cylinders instead of 8.
