Why remove tha valve covers and intake? Is there a problem with the engine that would require this? I wouldn't put 454 heads on the 396, as they will be lower compression, and may not work as well as the factory 396 heads for the engine.

I don't know why he's pulling off the intake either. But he wanted to get the casting numbers off the heads to know what heads he has, and you need the valve covers off to do that.

Good find for that price. The block is worth that alone and to get snap on tools along with it is great.

What would suck is if his room mate's selling off his stuff in the meantime while he's overseas to pay for crack rock!

I don't know about the #'s but if you find it has rectangular intake ports you want to hang on to those heads.
