1980 Berlinetta
Hey guys, my brother and I just bought our first car, and we're quite excited to have a camaro! This is a project car, and on day 2 we have already started running into many problems with the car. The few that we're trying to work on this next week are a cracked radiator, sagging doors, and fixing the broken locks on the car. I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions about to best go about these problems? We were contemplating brazing the radiator crack, but we weren't sure how long that might hold for us.
I've also never had to change a lock on a car door, and I was wondering if how difficult of a task that might be?
Thanks for the help in advance!!

I'm sure you could find a radiator pretty cheap. The doors you just put new pins in because the other get wore out and sag. I've never changed the locks. How is the frame on the car. Sometimes they like to rust behind the wheels. I,ve had a bunch of second gens. Good luck. Post some pics.

The body is in fairly good shape, with very little rust on the exterior. Tonight I'm going to sand down all the rust spots, but I'm going to wait a bit on a new paint job. I don't see very much build up of rust behind the wheels, but thanks for the tip!
So for the sagging doors it's as easy as picking up a new pin kit? I won't have to worry about the hinges?

A new set of pins wont do it. You need the complete pin kit with new bushings. I put a kit in mine and they're like new now.
The locks are easy! Just remove the entire door panel and roll the window up. Then look inside and you'll see a "C" clip that holds the lock in. Grasp it with pliers and pull it off. The lock can then be pushed out and removed from the linkage. Take it to a key shop and they can sell you a new one keyed to match the old one. About $10-$12 here.
Radiators can be purchased for around $125 for a welded aluminum on Ebay. Check the various listings. If you want a really hi performance welded two row thick core it will set you back about $170.
