My car went for paint today...
and I'm already nervous! It hasn't been away from home for anything in 25 years, and although I trust the shop, it's tough to look in the garage and see an empty spot.
Owner of the shop says it will be 2-4 weeks, and he said I can drop by to take pictures as he's progressing. I'm completely changing colors, so it's stripped clean, but they'll still have to pull doors, hood, and trunk lid to shoot the inside. It's getting a coat of gunmetal gray metallic, with charcoal gray SS stripes.
I'll occupy my spare time polishing out the bumpers and aluminum trim, while I wait for the phone call! Lots of assembly inside and out to do when it comes back, so it will be a winter project.

Thanks guys. Been taking lots of pictures throughout the restoration, and I'll get some when it first returns home, and more when I've got all the pieces back on. Have to go down tomorrow and sit down with the shop owner to pick the exact paint numbers from his sheets. We sort of discussed what I wanted, but he said he wanted me to be sure before he ordered paint, so he gave me a few days to possibly change my mind. I've changed a few times throughout the rebuild, but been stuck on these colors for a couple months now, and I'm pretty certain I wont change.
Anyone have any suggestions on good products to polish out the chrome on my bumpers? They're in nice original shape, but need a little polishing.

The primer on the roof is where I removed the sunroof, and welded the donor section in.
Front fenders had flares too, so I replaced both fenders, even though only one was damaged in the accident. Of course the hood was changed, but the old one held up perfectly to the accident, with no damage or cracks.
Last picture was taken just before I removed everything again, after final fitting.

No rust anywhere! We don't salt the roads in Oregon during winter, so our cars stay rsut free. Plus I've garaged this car since I bought it used in 1973, so it didn't sit in the rain either. It's solid as a rock.
