Default More Z28 Engine Bay mods :)

So this week I have been working on putting on some of the stuff I bought at the collector auto fest in Raleigh last weekend. Most of it was superficial things like a radiator cap and a breather nut, but I did buy an chrome alternator fan & pulley and a stainless alternator bracket. I repainted the compressor pulley and clutch (not sure yet if I want to keep it that color), touched up a few bolt heads and also repainted the alternator while I was working on it.

I actually had quite a time taking the old pulley off. I rounded the nut off after repeated tries to get it off, so I gave up on it and got an identical alternator off a decommissioned 77 model 350 that was on the donor pickup that uncle gary is using for his 58 Apache restoration. Although rusty, that nut immediately came off and I painted it and put the new pulley kit on it. I mounted it on the Z28 and cranked it up to discover that the lights were very dim and the voltmeter was making its way below 12 pretty quick. I took the alternator out and took it apart and pieces of the stator came out in my hand. My uncle and I ended up carefully cutting the nut off with the dremel and replacing the pulley that way.

Sorry about the quality of the pics, I'll take more with my Canon eventually, But here is the final result after quite a while putting it on... check it!

Here is a BEFORE shot...

Is your fan sticker upside down?

^ No, the engine is just in there backwards!
Usually when you're working on the engine, where the fan is within reach, you'd be standing at the side of the car where the caution sticker would then be readable.

If you look closely you'll see it's imprinted on the fan shroud the opposite direction, so the sticker is upside down.
