manual tranny for 69

Default manual tranny for 69

does anyone know what kind of manual transmissions would fit into a 69 camaro... i currently have a turbo 350, 3 speed manual and its got to go, i want to swap in a 5 or 6 speed... any idea on what trannies will mount up in there to a 350. thanks

a turbo 350 is an automatic so you have me confused?

yeah im a tard... sorry, i meant to say a three speed automatic, i was just thinkin about manuals.... but im trying to findout what kind of manuals from cars are able to be directly swapped into my 69 , or ones with little modification... any ideas

Well as far as I know you could probibly fit a taramac 5-speed in their just fine or with little modification. But I have never done this kind trannie swap.

Probably the biggest issue You'll have is setting up a clutch pedal and linkage. There are a number or 4, 5 and 6 speed trans that will fit. All You have to do is get the driveshaft setup for it. A Muncie M21 or M20 ( both common ) uses the same yoke as a T-350. A Super T10 uses the same yoke as a T400. Use a Hurst shifter ( they've been doing it since day 1 ) and get a good aftermarket bellhousing ( McLeod or Lakewood ) and don't skimp on a clutch setup. This will be a relatively expensive swap so I'd price it all out before I began to do anything. Good Luck.
