Default manual steering 78 z28

Hi guys. been awhile. last time i had an issue people on here really helped me out. car runs great but i have noticed power steering box leaks like hell. finally got time to remedy situation. got me a manual box out of a 90 or 91 s10. been reading up and studying things but nowhere does it say if i have to take the pitman arm off the car when i change the box. will reuse it. so when i drop box out and leave it hanging i can just reinstall the manual one. im hoping. im a self taught guy so i could be wrong. so basically can i replace box without taking pitman arm off the center link. think thats what its called. alright. thanks for help.

It's a bolt on, but you'll need to reuse your Camaro arm. Leave it on the car and just pull it from the old box, then reinstall on the S10 box.

I dunno if manual boxes have a different arm than power. Worth a try though.

Same arm on both, as the rest the tie rods and ends wont line up if they changed.

Howdy, I am a newbie I was just wondering how is your manual conversion going...I really am interested in doing this myself in my '81 Z and would like to learn all about it.

Any reason why you wouldn't want to convert to the S10 box and keep it power steering? Are you just trying to get rid of the draw of power steering, or the pump?
