Default Ls1 into 1970 Camaro

I have a couple ?s. 1st question, I have the chance to buy a 1970 camaro with no rust, may be a z28. Is 6500 a good price? It is currently not running. THe owner will give with it an Ls1 engine with auto tranny, computer, and harness. It has decent paint, cowl hood, decent rims and tires, and decent interior.

If it is a good price what would you need to do to drop in the Ls1 with the auto tranny?

I know a decent 70 Camaro here in AZ would fetch twice that if it started up and ran. They are getting more and more difficult to find.

On the LS1 installation idea, a person could probably write a book on that subject alone. Good luck on the project if you decide to buy, and please post up some pictures!

Thats a steal of a deal. As for the LS1 its a great motor good stock power as is and yes it will be alittle hard to install but the pay off would def. be worth it. To have a classic Camaro that has the ability to start up right away ,get ok mpg, and be reliable would be nice

Look up Detroit Speed as they've done some LS1 drivetrain conversions and have conversion parts.

Go to pro-touring.com and check out their sections on transmissions and engines. There's a lot of people on there that swap in LS1's, LT1's, etc. as well as 6 speed transmissions and newer auto transmissions. There's a lot of information on there.
