Lower control arm adjustment with headers
I'm looking at these headers for my 79 z28, http://www.summitracing.com/parts/SUM-G9001-9/
It says that you have to modify lower A-Arm support bracket on 1979-81 models, and I think im sure that an "A-Arm" is a lower control arm correct?
Has anyone had to make the adjustments to the arm when installing headers similar to these?
If so, what type of adjusting have to be made?

Control arm support bracket would mean the mounting point on the crossmember of the subframe that the A-arm swings on. I guess you'll find out how close it is when you get them. A little cutting, grinding, or whacking with a hammer should do the trick.

ok, I see how it works, yea... some hammer action will take care of that little problem. Only thing is, I'm going to have to have an exhaust system installed the same time my headers are installed because its the original y-pipe style that runs into 1 cat on the passanger side. And I don't want the attention of straight headers driving through town to the muffler shop. Don't think that would go over well with the local law enforcement agents hehe.

Do you already have the exhaust and just having it installed, or is the muffler shop supplying it all? If you had the mufflers, you could temporarily jury rig them onto the header connectors.

No, just the headers on the way, the muffler shop is going to supply the muffler's tho, So i'm going to ask how much extra its going to cost to have them installed on there as well.

Just cut your existing pipes back, install the headers, then use a piece of flex pipe to connect them to the existing exhaust until you can get to the shop.
