Just a few questions...
Ok so I'm just trying to figure a few things out...
First: I'm starting to think that a speedometer is going to be necessary in the car because i'm seeing more and more cops out there hah... I have a new speedo cable but i'm not sure where it goes into the tranny and through the firewall? anyone have any pictures?

Second: I'm trying to figure out what exactly is on the car. Since I bought the car with the engine worked over I don't know what parts were used. Is there a way to figure out the size of a carb? The guy I bought it from said it's a Holley 750 but there are no Holley 750's that look like it. Same goes for the intake manifold It has no markings on it to be able to tell.

Third: I'm pretty sure that its a 7qt Proform oilpan (not 100% sure) but I'm not sure if the dipstick is the right size. The dipstick will never read full it always has about 1/8" of oil on it (barely anything) even after I changed the oil last year. I always have good oil pressure so its not like its running on nothing but I really don't want to blow it up because of something stupid I did like not putting enough oil in it. It seems as if I have the exact same problem as this guy did 7 Quart oil pan and Dipstick Problem should I do what they recommended and buy a new dipstick and put 6qts +1 and mark it out to be safe? It also leaks quite a bit of oil but i'm not sure where its coming from maybe the oilpan gasket?

Answers would really be appreciated!

Speedo cable goes to the side of the tail housing, drivers side.
On the air horn of your carb "3310-2" = model 4160 750 cfm: http://www.holley.com/data/TechServi...%20Listing.pdf
How many quarts of oil did you put in the pan? If you still have the correct stock dipstick, follow those lines. A deeper, larger capacity oil pan adds oil below the dipstick, not above. Your fill mark on the stick remains the same.
And yeah, looks like either an oil pan gasket leak or it's the rear main seal. Clean everything off well and see where the trail originates from.

Thanks for answering all of those...I didn't really think that the carb was a 750, I thought it was a bit smaller but its good to know what it actually is. I don't see any product #'s on the intake but they could be on the back, I might have to look a little harder. But as far as the oil goes I know that the fill level should stay the same but I'm thinking that the dipstick isn't the original. I could either go to a junkyard and try to find a 350 with one or just buy a new unmarked one and set it up? I honestly forget how much I put in it last year but i think it was 7qts and it still didn't read anything so i'm thinking its too short. As far as the leak goes I don't know if I have the skills to fix it because it involves raising the engine to get the oil pan off doesn't it?
Passenger side of the tranny on the tail housing is the speedo connection.
Carb says 3310 on the air horn, so it is a 750, but somebody stripped out the choke mechanism.
When you changed oil did you put 7 qts in it? If it's a 7 qt. pan, then you need 8 qts to fill the pan and the oil filter.
Oops! Guess Camaro 69 already answered. That's what I get for eating dinner and coming back!

oh ok well 7+1 makes a lot of sense maybe I just never had enough oil in it (i hope i haven't done any damage) but I was under the impression that my dipstick was just not long enough...what is the stock length for the dipstick in a 350sbc? Maybe mine is correct ...and yea the carb has been rebuilt or at least tuned at some point by a shop because there is a carbshop sticker on the front of it, but not having the choke would only make it a little harder to start when its cold out right?

Ben chokes are exactly for helping cold starts, and that is as ordinary looking Holley as I've ever seen. Outside they look the same. Its the bores that change. That is a Proform pan, I can tell from the outline on the sticker. My theory on 7qt pans is still run 5 or 6 quarts and you the extra space to keep the oil away from the crank. As long as your not under 5 your fine. Your engine has no idea how big the pan is and doesn't really care.

But on American cars, where the driver is on the left, the speedo is considered to be on the drivers side of the tail housing.
And the brand name of the intake manifold should be buried in back, between the carb and distributor.

Except in cases where you have a high volume oil pump and are winding high rpm's, where sufficient oil recovery back down to the pan could be marginal. Then it will care very much. In addition, oil absorbs heat, so running with more oil can keep the engine cooler.
