Just bought a 70 Camaro with no trim tag...

Yeah I'm still debating on what I want to do. For the trans. I can't figure out if I want to put a 4 speed back in it or a turbo 350. The only reason I would go with a turbo 350 is because I already have one built.

very true. I have always ran turbo 350 and 400's. Never had a problem with them.

I think the cooling issues are a myth. Besides I can't see how that would wipe out a cam. I already have a 383 but if I had my choice it would have been a 377. Then I could had wound the livin **** out of it. Now I'm pretty much stuck under 6500. 383s just don't like RPM. Torque yes. RPM no. My choice is based on the 4.125 bore of the 400 helping the heads draw in more air and freeing up more power.

If I had a Camaro that was a factory 4 spd. car, or had the pedals and clutch linkage already in it I'd sure go with the 4 spd. It makes the value of the car much higher, plus I just love a 4 spd. car.
One other thing! If you get the chance you might try some paint remover on the tail panel to carefully remove paint and see what the original color was. If it's satin black on the tail panel, it was a big block 396 car.

my 70 has Z28 emblems all in the right places and my tag is in the right place, but can somone tell me how I know for sure its a Z I looked up alot of info on tags and someone told me that cars that were made in NOR did not always have Z info on them. Its a 350/4spd not original block though, thanks

Speaking of build sheets; have you looked under the back seat cushions to see if it's there? It may also be on top of the gas tank, if it's not deteriorated. That would help determine how it was built.
