Man i wish i would have seen that picture before i spent all that money on those stands, coulda spent that on something else and just followed what this guy did haha.Looks like the rock is doing a great job there,no safety issues with that haha. Not to mention it looks like he is welding next to the gas tank, nah there aint no safety issues at all.

the only way i can think of u could do damage to the frame is if u have the stands on the frame and one stand is not the same hight as the others. if left for more than a short time it could tweak the frame.
fyi i use tires under the car as a jack stand back up to make sure if it does fall, it wont fall so far as to squish u.

I use 3 ton jackstands like these:

I used to have hose little ones shaped from round tubing with cross pinned holes. They were a pain to adjust, and pretty flimsy. These are super solid, easy to adjust, and pretty darn cheap!

He got lucky and only got a nasty bruise over most of his thigh. He went to HF and they ended up buying him a set of jack stands from Sears.
The lesson here is to not just rely on jack stands. Leave the jack with a little tension under the car, or at least slide the tire under the frame rail.
I usually do both.

Anytime I'm working under the car I don't ever feel fully comfortable. I'm always looking at where I'm at if it was to come down. Never had one drop yet, but I've heard of people having it happen before.
I did have one of those cheap stnads made from tubing that's split 3 ways to make the legs, with a bar welded between the legs. One of the welds on the bars failed when I let the floor jack down a bit too fast and it dropped as the legs spread. No harm done, as it only dropped a few inches, but I was glad I was outside the car.
