Default installing sub and amp

hey ive had a kicker sub and amp for a long time but haven't gotten a chance to install it in my 81 camaro. where would be a good place to mount the amp in the trunk area? since i heard that mounting it to the sub can ruin the amp from the vibrations? and where do you guys ground the amp in your 2nd gen camaro's?

When i was into that kinda thing i mounted my amp under the passenger seat and grounded it to the seat bolt and just ran the wires along the console and to the sub from under the carpet then threw the back seat

Let the midgets out of the trunk

i dont know if the amp would get enough air flow under the seat though and my seats are really low

There amps they were designed to take some vibration just don't mount them to the back of the sub box any where else is fine

Another option you might consider is just to get a box (something like that for a truck where the sub sits behind the seat) and just lay it flat in your trunk. If you run long enough wires, you can just set the sub in your trunk and leave it there. The carpet in your trunk and the material on the box should keep it from sliding around; plus you dont have to mount it in your car so you don't have to deal with any of those issues, and if you ever decide you need more trunk space for something all you have to do is unhook the two wires that run from the amp to the sub and you can just lift the sub out of your trunk. I did this with my last car and it worked great, especially since it was a hatch-back...I didnt want to mount it in the trunk cause then i would lose all that trunk space and it would be pointless to fold down the seats to haul anything. (granted this isnt really an issue for you).

as for the amp, maybe look and see how much space you have under the driver/passenger seats. If it fits, its out of the way, looks clean cause you dont really see the amp, and all you have to do is run wires to your sub and to the head unit which is easy when the amp is under the seat because its close to the center console and closer to the head unit itself.

I've had my amp mounted on top of my box for years. 2 Memphis 12's and 1000w amp. Lots of vibration, and 0 amp trouble. Only thing I can see going wrong is the sub vibrating wires loose.
