I need some ideas. Not a Camaro question
Some of you know my story. I have been fixing up a 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee for the the wifes new DD. It sat for who knows how long before i got it, it was a bank repo from another state. The engine had a blown head gasket and needed a full rebuild. Well after 7 mo. in my driveway I hit the key and it fired right off without any hiccups. So I thought. The cooling system needs some work, guess why the head gasket blew?
After all this time the shocks have seem to froze. This thing rides like a Radio Flyer. Anyone got some frozen shock tips. I think its the shocks at least, I haven't done much investigating besides pushing on the rear and seeing no compression in the suspension. It has coils so its not like the spring eyes are bound up.
HELP!
Thanks,
Damon

I haven't ever heard of one siezing up. I'm not even positive thats it. Maybe the control arms? I just don't have a clue, I haven't spent a ton of time on it though. I'm more worried about replacing a couple vacuum hoses that the dealer can't even identify.

Have you tried unbolting the bottom mount on the rear shocks and then compress the suspension? That will tell you if it's shocks.
I'd be more inclined to think it's the metal inserts on the control arms that have frozen to the bolts from rust and sitting. I'd try to break the bolts loose, then shoot some lube into the area to free them up.

That looked shorter than 40ft. I guess growing up near sand dunes where guys actually fly has me jaded.
Like I said I haven't gotten deep into it. I will check the shocks. i think the seized bushings sounds good though.
