How to tell if 1970 Camaro z28 is real?
So I'm looking at a 70 Camaro z28 to purchase and I've never had an older car but this one is black with silver stripes and driver quality. I want to know if it is a real z28 car, the seller is young and said that you need a build sheet to prove it and he doesn't have it. It has a 350 that suppose to be original to car, and he switched the transmission to a t-350 from a 74 Camaro. It's running with very little rust, but needs paint and originally it was Blue ext. he says.
Can I just run the VIN# to find out? The only thing that worried me is that he said it was a gift and he is gonna locate the title, so not sure if its clean. In NC I would want it to be clean not salvage of course. He also says he believes the frame of the car to be from a 1974 Camaro. This would probably indicate a wreck I guess. Its not a lot of money and is a driver, but I would like to know the authenticity. Any help would be appreciated greatly.

start here
1970 Camaro Trim Tag Identification and Decoding
if the tag is missing or molested i would assume that its been tampered with and is a neat clone but not worth the bigger bucks
