Default how much horsepower can 200r4 take

was wondering if the 200 r4 can handle much power, are they strong or week, would like to have an affordable overdrive tranny so i can run a 3.73 gear without getting 5mpg on the freeway.

In stock form, with what you have in your sig? Don't expect it to make it more than once around the block!

they sure do have alot of cool stuff for the 200r4 to help it survive,im thinking i can buid one up to handle it,just need to collect all the good parts, got the tranny for free, built lots of 350 turbos and 400 turbos to handle the power but never tried rebuildinga 200 r4,i rebuilt a 700r4 but just to factory specs.

A 4L80E would hold up much better to higher HP the the 200 or 700R4.

Don't you have a 400 built to handle 1000hp?

If you're planning on drag racing or abusing it much with your engine's rated HP, I'd stick with the TH400. The 700 or 200 are about equal when properly built, and will last pretty well, but not if you work it too hard.
I've run a TH350 behind my 427 for about 30 yrs. and it's held up great. It was very well built by a friend with every goof part he could put in it.

He does, but if I were to take a wild guess, I'd say he would like to have an affordable overdrive tranny so he can run a 3.73 gear without getting 5mpg on the freeway.

well really i would like to get my engine in and mounted before i get my radiator core in it.i already have the inner fenders and fenders i only need patch panels for my fenders if i keep it an 80,but am leaning toward the 71 clone as i can get all the new parts aftermarket.camaro 69 is exactly right im looking for a tranny that can put up alot of abuse and get decent milage on the highway.i have the 400 turbo but with 3.73 gears its gonna be running too many rpms on the freeway.
